NOVEMBER ASTROLOGY REPORT
Copyright, October 2000 by Roxana Muise
November is host to five squares, five planetary ingresses, two oppositions, one new and one full Moon, and one direct station. Universal patterns support tying up loose ends and completing projects. The ongoing Mercury/Pluto/Jupiter power ring continues to test our inner processes. Emotions can burn us out unless we channel them in positive ways. A subtle shift will occur on November 6 and 7 that can enable new visionary values, and interrupt power manipulation. Then, abruptly the energy shifts back to the process of transformation through reason and growth. On November 12, a new intensity surfaces that continues until December 8th. The need for perfection of values can be a motivating factor. Support is available to help us develop the intuitive qualities that are much needed in our world now.
11/1 Mercury square Neptune 6:29 AM, 3:52 Scorpio/Aquarius Challenges abound in November. Keep your consciousness clear to see beyond the miscommunications, misunderstandings and deceptions. Clues from the past two months are of help. If you can inject a spiritual component, the crises are easier to comprehend.
11/3 Mars enters Libra 6:01 PM (forming a grand trine in air) Action comes easily, but at a price. Acting alone can bring discomfort, frustration, and anger. It takes courage to defer to patience and balance. You can accomplish more in relationships with sharing and listening. Unique activities can create excitement and romance.
11/6 Mercury enters Libra 11:29 PM A shift in consciousness to refocus on relationships brings awareness. A good time to discuss relationship problems such as nervous habits, restlessness, balance, and joint goals. Relegate old patterns (such as irritations and jealousies) to the past.
11/7 Mercury turns direct 6:28 PM (US election day), 29:56 Libra Critical changes. There are two configurations (double quincunxes) today: Mercury stD/Moon/Saturn, and N. Node/Uranus/Chiron. Restlessness and the need for self-control are today’s guidelines. There will be last minute adjustments in thinking, and abrupt turn-arounds. Careful inspection may uncover revelations such as deviousness, duplicity, and/or fraud. Unexpected stress forces us to reevaluate decisions. Dynamic motivation, individuation, truth, identity will be revealed. We are now 2/3rds of the way through the Mercury shadow cycle that began September 28. Stay alert for possible resolutions to processes begun during that time. Mercury leaves his shadow on December 13.
11/8 Mercury enters Scorpio 1:41 PM Yet another shift in consciousness, as Mercury again slides from the personal power ring (with Jupiter and Venus) into the collective one shared by Pluto and Jupiter. Recognize the need for discipline and patience to avoid an easy slide into hostility and violence. Conduct conscious investigations into previous mysteries. Expect revelations of shady activities.
Sun square Uranus 5:58 PM, 16:58 Scorpio/Aquarius A challenge in leadership to show strength and dependability through sensible, decisive action. Yet inventive, unconventional methods may be needed to quell aggressive or destructive actions. Consciousness is the key as a remedy for crisis. Opportunities develop for healing.
11/11 Full Moon 19:47 Taurus, west coast 1:15 PM; east coast 4:15 PM Set aside personal agendas for an alignment of will and personality. Fulfillment and closure are possible if details of building processes can be worked on in a creative manner. Focus on practical/financial matters with shared resources. Amalgamation of values is possible. West coast: A base of philosophies, beliefs, and foreign alliances can produce agreements. Contracts must be fair; infrastructure will be negotiable; expect surprise announcements. East coast: From a base of peers and partners can emerge personal progress, vitality, and activation of new attitudes. Assertiveness may be needed to win over opponents to prepared plans.
11/12 Venus enters Capricorn 6:15 PM The need for accountability, ethical principles, and dependable, reliable standards is realized. Discover opportunities to interconnect and dialog without delays or postponements.
11/14 Mercury square Neptune 11:58 PM, 4:03 Scorpio/Aquarius Déjà vu from November 1st. The quest for clarity and stability continues. Challenges to consciousness include ideas vs. emotions, and the search for inner meaning. Confront old habit patterns, and expect to discover secrets for sale or trade. Create or maintain spiritual awareness.
11/19 Sun opposes Saturn 4:41 AM, 29:27 Scorpio/Taurus Alliances may be made, or separations may occur due to a lack of cooperation. Enduring bonds can be forged, if new perspectives are honored. Visionary ideas can be communicated if they are supported by shared values and stable emotional presentations. Many opportunities can arise in a practical sense. Cooperation is the key.
11/21 Sun enters Sagittarius 4:20 PM Uncover possible achievements through conscious identification with valued principals. Changes are accomplished through patience and planning. Success is possible as a result of discontinuation of outmoded patterns. Contacts or ideas that started in May 2000 have grown and developed into potentials for success.
11/22 Venus square Mars 5:43 AM, 11:20 Capricorn/Libra Double sesqui-quadrate to Saturn. Integrity demands that loving needs be made manifest. Values are challenged by peers and those in authority. Take responsibility for achieving your goals, even though it may threaten a relationship. Strong mutually respectful relationships will survive. This cycle began on June 22; goals may have been altered since then.
11/25 Mercury square Uranus 3:01 AM, 17:16 Scorpio/Aquarius After having retraced your steps, it’s time to move forward now, but use discretion to test each step for validity. Your past knowledge will be tested; be ready to make adjustments to unusual situations. Emotional encounters will be testing your relationships.
New Moon 4:00 Sagittarius, west coast 3:11 PM; east coast 6:11 PM A new cycle of beginning is possible, using vision and idealism. Opportunities for developing a spiritual philosophy depend on communication and thoughtful dialog with those of like minds. West coast: relationships with peers, controversies over sharing and equality must be ironed out before successful ventures are started. East coast: new ventures can begin in areas such as health care, work related issues, service in community efforts. These projects may have secret support from advocates or benefactors who want to guide the projects.
11/27 Sun opposes Jupiter 6:13 PM, 6:09 Sagittarius/Gemini Abundance is possible through solid leadership, strength of character and shared ideals. Illusions must be discovered and removed from the equation; and be cautious of diversions or of other people’s inappropriate expectations. Hope and visionary work can bring about growth. Fulfillment is possible with philanthropic support, or through an expansive and optimistic attitude.
November Symbolism
November was originally named for the 9th month of the Roman calendar, and the dark face of the Goddess was honored, as the portion of daily darkness increased. The wisdom of the mature divinities, the dark goddesses, Hecate, Menat, Atropos, Lillith and Cailleach were acknowledged on November first, the cross-quarter day, the festival of Samhain. November first also marks the Christian feast of All Saints, when Christian heroes and heroines are recognized and petitioned to assist mortals in their quest for a more blessed existence. The ancient Egyptians celebrated the Day of the Dead in mid-November. And November 25 marks the day of honor for Persephone, queen of the underworld during the six dark months of the year.
November's gemstone is the topaz. It is worn to radiate the gift of light that dispels the darkness and ignorance that arises during the winter quarter, and calms anger. True and lasting friendship is symbolized by the topaz, which is found in many different colors. Gifts of light radiate from the sky in the direction of the constellation Leo between November 14th and 21st. The Leonids meteor shower peaks on November 16th. Look for it around 5 AM, before the Sun rises. The last quarter Moon may make it difficult to see.
November is a month of remembrance and thanksgiving for Universal bounty. Veterans Day reminds us of those who have served the ideals of their country. Thanksgiving takes place on Thursday, Jupiter’s day when the Sun is in the Sagittarius decanate of Sagittarius, whose key word is devotion. That decanate is pictured in the sky by the constellation Lyra, the harp. Harps were used in ancient times for giving praise to the gods of plenty. Jupiter, ruler of Sagittarius symbolizes the abundance of harvest. Livestock were sacrificed with ceremony in November, because they could not be kept alive through the winter months. Prayers of thanksgiving were given in most ancient religions during this time.
Some of the plants of Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius, have leaves that are large and conspicuous (fig, olive, grape); fruit that is edible and nutritious (acorn, beechnut); and many have a pleasant odor (mulberry, clove, nutmeg and marjoram).
Sagittarius rules the thighs. November Sagittarius is a time for running. Stretching the legs, getting to the top of the next hill to see what’s on the other side… Combine this with the breath:
The Breath Pull
As you run,
suggest to your mind that you are not
the one doing the running.
Your breath is sucking you forward. You are
being vacuumed forward, breathed forward.
Relax, concentrate on this idea
And enjoy the ride…
…Feel the lightness in every step, in every cell,
as you are whisked forward, not of your own accord…

Many thanks to the group at my lecture at SCAN (Southern California Astrological Network) for assisting me in creating the November Astrology Report. Together we found appropriate key-words that fit the aspects and formed the interpretations for some of the paragraphs. What fun we had!
