JULY ASTROLOGY REPORT 2000

This month: One direct station, three planetary ingresses, three oppositions, four conjunctions, two lunar occultations, and three eclipses! Whenever we observe two new or full Moons in one month, it is called a "Blue Moon". Even beyond that, it’s very rare that there are three eclipses in a single month. With no exact planetary squares this July, challenges will most likely be on a personal level.

Eclipses signify a tendency for change, signaled by an interruption of light to the Earth. The light of the Sun is what gives life to our planet, and when the flow of the Sun’s direct light (or indirect light reflected off the Moon) is disrupted, our connection with stability is broken. Many people have a fear of eclipses - we all have places in our lives where we fear change. As with every other aspect, there is a constructive use for the energy of an eclipse. Making conscious changes in life patterns is a process that begins with recognizing the need for change. Next, the aware person plans a new pattern to take its place. An eclipse contacting the appropriate natal placement allows the old pattern to be released, so the new pattern may be established. Eclipse energy surrounds us all this month, and if not directed, it can cause disruption, or interference, or unplanned changes. Awareness is the key. Use the energies wisely, rather than letting them use you.

The energy flow throughout July will be changeable and complex. The combination of planets moving through Cancer, channeling their energies through the Moon, three eclipses, and Mercury in its retrograde sub-cycle symbolize the need for constant adjustments. Between July 9 and 15 you can expect power plays to occur. Toward the end of the month leaders’ values may be tested. Stress levels will be high during July, especially for those who tend to avoid change. July’s dynamic energies are either uniting or separative. An emphasis on emotional support will be important in this complex and powerful time. Those who are thick skinned and quick on their feet will excel.

7/1 Sun conjunct Mars 10:06 Cancer, 8:49 AM; Aggressive energies underscore this eclipse, however the need for action is strong, and the need to protect and nurture will be aroused. Solar Eclipse 10:14 Cancer; New beginnings can be accomplished through selfless work. Transformation on many levels is possible, however many adjustments must be made before action can take place. West coast 12:19 PM: Changes in management can be helpful. Building for success can be established through patience and great attention to detail in contracts and verbal agreements. East coast 3:19 PM: The values of talents and holdings can change in an instant. Previous agreements can be honored after they are reviewed. Misunderstandings must be resolved before projects can be resumed.

7/2 Mercury Rx conjunct Venus 16:58 Cancer, 10:38 AM As Mercury retraces his steps and reconnects with the personal planets, you may have a sense of deja vu. Rekindle meaningful relationships, or investigate your own appreciation of beauty and love. Remembering experiences from late April can give you new understandings, and assist you in the art of nurturing.

7/6 Sun conjunct Mercury Rx 14:42 Cancer, 4:34 AM A perceived offense or insult can give you the incentive to explore your own self-image with a different perspective. Test the waters in a new venture. This is not the best time to make a firm commitment on a new project, as more information will emerge. Situations that took place in early May can make more sense now.

7/7 Mercury Rx conjunct Mars 14:01 Cancer, 7:08 AM Answering strong urges to convert thought into action may be premature. These two planets last met in mid May when you were asked to engage your common sense before acting. The same may be true now, but for different reasons. Safety may be an issue, as your projects may incur some new risks.

7/13 Venus enters Leo 1:02 AM Two scenarios: You may receive mutual support from experts or authorities regarding a question of honor. Or, you and others can find yourselves passing the buck rather than taking responsibility in a questionable or confusing circumstance. Either way, current values and ethics will be evaluated.

7/16 Total Lunar Eclipse 24:19 Capricorn/Cancer; Harvest can be accomplished through assuming responsibility for your decisions and actions. Classic debates of nurture vs. nature arise. New paradigms foster arguments, and much energy can be squandered over who to blame for problems that don’t respond to previous solutions. Those who are willing to stand up for principle will ultimately succeed, but not without the generation of a great deal of bitterness. Forgiveness is the best way to heal discord. West coast 6:55 AM, Environmental concerns and the unearthing of secrets are the issues to be addressed. East coast 9:55 AM, Legislative processes and financial speculations will be the subjects of focus.

7/17 Mercury turns direct 10:23 Cancer, 621 AM Many adjustments will be required. This is a turning point – an opportunity to express strong, previously hidden emotions in a clear and loving manner.

Venus opposes Neptune 5:27 Leo/Aquarius, 11:29 AM Inspired and imaginative ideas are flowing. Try to maintain a realistic point of view without destroying creativity. Spiritual values can be seen more clearly, and offer powerful solutions to mundane problems.

7/22 Sun enters Leo 542 AM A totally physical approach to love may be disappointing. Relationships have more depth and staying power if similar values are explored. Look beyond to find a spiritual connection, which will nurture as love develops. A deep strong love can develop that can transform the mundane into magic.

7/27 Sun opposes Neptune 5:11 Leo/Aquarius, 3:48 PM Sensitivity is high, and egos will be vulnerable. Optimism needs to have firm, gentle support, and cooperation in a shared dream can lead to great creative outcomes.

7/28 Venus opposes Uranus 19:22 Leo/Aquarius, 6:59 PM Eccentric and unconventional values may be under scrutiny. Non-traditional solutions to some of society’s technology problems may be the only workable answers. Breakthroughs in biotechnology will infuriate some and offer hope to others.

7/29 Moon occults Mercury 17:22 Cancer, 1019 AM Conditions favor temporary communication blocks or interruptions. Begin early in the week to safeguard documents and files – back up your computer files. Mercury leaves its retrograde shadow - some files or documents that you thought were lost may turn up. Even if you can’t bring yourself to say what you want to say, write it down and communicate at a more appropriate time.

7/30 Moon occults Mars 28:59 Cancer, 4:47 AM Hidden motives and treacherous agendas may be uncovered, feeding sensationalism in the press. Some of these seemingly sinister strategies may be done as protective measures, some even prompted by an altruistic spirit. Partial Solar Eclipse 8:12 Leo: A good time to begin the healing process. Releasing old patterns can be advantageous, and changes that are directed from within have great power to succeed. Mercury leaves his shadow today, possibly revealing information needed for the accomplishment of processes begun in early June. West coast 7:26 PM: Relationships can be healed; enthusiasm and passion can inject new energy into your lives. New relationships need to be approached realistically, for they can be powerful and long lasting. But they may turn out different than they first appear. East coast 10:26 PM: New projects can succeed, if they include room for growth, and are based on creative ideas. Substantive support may be available now.

7/31 Mars enters Leo 6:20 PM: New responsibilities can bring opportunities for self improvement, and contacts leading to high energy projects in consensus with others of like minds.
