Yesterday, the USGS Seismology Center made an adjustment
to Feb. 21st
earthquake, upgrading from 3.2 mg. to 3.6 mg.
http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/bulletin/neic_fdad.html . No
explanation for this
adjustment was noted.
Below are a few statements made by concerned researchers
and observers as to
the latest trend in Yellowstone area quakes, and to USGS
inaccurate, inept,
and perhaps suspicious reporting.
From Paul: (Douglas, Wyoming)
Hi Mitch !! Met you once here in Denver. I have a ranch
30 mi south of
Douglas (WY) 15-18 yrs ago there was a 5.8 or so quake
in the mtns there .10
or so miles south of Douglas on the north platte river
is a little known hot
spring which maintains about 85 degrees. Over near Newcastle
is Hot Springs
, S.D. The 5 point you note was out on the prairie north
of Douglas where
there is big oil and gas drilling. With the size and obvious
cover-up
attempt I suspect nuke type blast cavern making remote
area and cover
stories with drilling . . Paul
From Jim Berkland, Geologist:
Mitch,
There definitely is a cover-up here. The 3.5M with the
same coordinates as
the "5.3" clearly establishes that there has
been a substantial release of
energy at that site. I do not see any way that a true
5.3M could have been
missed by dozens of seismographs, although a 3.5M might
have been
overlooked. Even if the original "5.3" was a
transposed 3.5 as I suggested
it should have been easily distinguished as non-tectonic
if it was a mine
collapse or mine blast.
However, let us say that the military is excavating a
new operational
shelter in that area, and they don't want it to be known.
What mines are in
that area? Perhaps the first blast was a 25,000 ton nuke
explosion designed
to hollow out a big chamber? It has been known for many
years that if a
spherical chamber is used for a test blast, much of the
energy implodes back
on itself and cannot be accurately measured. I heard a
talk on this in the
early 1960's at the Peninsula Geologic Society (I forget
the technical term
for this, but it was part of the effort to deceive the
USSR.)
From Nancy: (Jackson, Wyoming)
Mitch, My son lives in Jackson , Wy. I just spoke with
him and he reports
that the e government had removed all the seismograph
material at Jackson
Lake Dam because they said it was too expensive to finance.
Recently a
local council woman from Jackson went to Washington to
request it be placed
and the government said they will put it back. This will
insure warning to
the people in Jackson Hole if an earthquake would occur
and the dam may
crack. On CNN, at 9 PM last night on the Larry King show,
there was a
disclaimer on the ticker tape on the bottom of the screen,
that any
earthquake activity has occurred. Nancy
From Lois: (Boise, Idaho)
Mitch:
Thanks for keeping on top of the earthquakes in Yellowstone.
I hear nothing
from national or local TV or radio. I wish the geologists
would just be
somewhat honest with the public, rather than make up the
hokie stories that
only make them look like fools, I would really like for
the forest service
to come up with a green, yellow, orange, red sign stating
the conditions
there so people could at least make up their on mind on
the severity of the
quakes. Have they closed any of the regions? or are they
hoping the snow
and no snowmobiles will keep people out? Lois
