Joyce And Isaac Churning Over Atlantic

Tropical Storm Joyce formed off West Africa late Monday and strengthened as it moved over the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast of Hurricane Isaac.

By early Wednesday, Joyce was packing maximum sustained winds of 50 mph as it moved on a westerly course about 1,575 miles east of the Windward Islands.

Meteorologists predicted that Joyce could reach hurricane strength by midweek.

After two days of weakening somewhat, Hurricane Isaac reintensified and was packing winds of 90 mph with higher gusts. The storm continued to remain well away from any significant land masses.

On Wednesday, Isaac was located about 1,000 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands
