Indonesian Province Shaken By Quake

Discovery Communications Inc.-A magnitude 5.2 earthquake hit Indonesia's province of North Sulawesi on Thursday at 6:47 p.m. local time, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The country's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency reported that the quake was centered 63 miles southeast of the city of Tondano, located immediately to the south of the provincial capital of Manado. The tremor was centered beneath the seabed of the Maluku Sea.

Shaking was felt in Tondano as well as the cities of Bitung and Manado to the northeast of Jakarta.

Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic country and is located on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
