Moderate Quake Shakes Eastern Turkey

A moderate earthquake jolted the eastern Turkish province of Agri on Sunday, the Anatolia news agency said. No injuries or damages were reported.

The temblor with a preliminary magnitude of 4 struck early Sunday morning. Agri, bordering Iran, is 625 miles east of the capital Ankara.

Most of Turkey lies on the active Anatolian fault. Ruptures in the fault caused two massive quakes that killed some 18,000 people and devastated large parts of northwestern Turkey last year.
