ATHENS, Greece (AP)--A strong undersea earthquake rattled the Aegean Sea holiday island of Rhodes on Tuesday, but there were no reports of damage or injuries, authorities said.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said quake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.2 and was centered on the seabed 259 miles southeast of the capital between Rhodes and the island of Karpathos. It occurred at 9:01 a.m.

A quake of magnitude 2.5 to 3 is the smallest generally felt by people. A quake of magnitude 5 can cause moderate damage.
