ERZURUM, Turkey (AP) - A moderate earthquake rattled eastern Turkey Monday morning, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 4.5, hit the town of Senkaya, near Erzurum, the Anatolia news agency reported quoting the Ataturk University Earthquake Research Center in Erzurum.

The same region has been hit by seven moderate quakes in the past few days, the highest measuring 4.

Most of Turkey lies on the North Anatolian Fault. Ruptures in the fault led to two massive earthquakes in northwestern Turkey in August and November, killing more than 18,000 people.

Erzurum is 560 miles east of the capital Ankara.
