Just as
I was about to send out this article, I received a breaking
news release stating a group of scientists in the US and
the UK says the accepted wisdom on climate change remains
unproved. They say rising greenhouse gas emissions may not
be the main factor in global warming.
They argue
that temperature rise projections this century are "unknown
and unknowable". They claim it is "a media myth" to suppose
that only a few scientists share their skepticism. The scientists,
a group convened by the American George C. Marshall Institute,
first published their report in the US.
Philip
Stott, emeritus professor of biogeography in the University
of London, is a prominent British climate skeptic. He said:
"The authors challenge the key contradiction at the heart
of the Kyoto Protocol, the global climate agreement - that
climate is one of the most complex systems known, yet that
we can manage it by trying to control a small set of factors,
namely greenhouse gas emissions. Scientifically, this is
not mere uncertainty: it is a lie."

article below is very long but incredibly
well written. It is one of the best attempts to surmise
the so-called 'global warming' phenomena I have come across.
The best part of it, Chris is a loyal ECTV viewer who has
a gift of making a very complex study, into something most
of us can understand.

Great Layout of Global Warming Information

I`m writing
to express my opinion on global warming, and would like
to know what is being discussed in the scientific community.
I would like to start by giving a brief outline. When I
was in the 4th grade (1974/75) my teacher explained to the
class, that 10,000 years ago our region was covered with
glaciers. We call it the Ice Age, and explain it with something
called the Glacier theory. He also stated that the evidence
available at that time seemed to indicate that we (Hamilton,
Ontario) once had a tropical climate, and chances are that
some day we would be the tropics again. As a young Canadian,
most likely in the middle of one of our typical winter`s,
that seemed like an extremely distant, and unlikely scenario.
Especially when followed up with “But it`ll never happen
in our lifetimes, because things like this happen over thousands
of years” Ah but we could dream.
Fast forward ten or so years, and the Scientists start to
produce data that seemed to indicate the surface of the
Earth was warming. (apparently Elders and others had been
warning of this quite a bit longer) I remember thinking
in fact, it may be happening in our lifetime.
Two or three years passed, more indicators pointed to climate
change, but all of a sudden someone comes up with the idea
that it was a man made problem, that was going to flood
our coastal cities, and destroy our environment. (the greenhouse
gas theory) Naturally, I was skeptical. This was around
1986. Since then I have read many stories, and articles,
relating to global warming and the green house gas theory,
with interest, and scrutiny. My understanding of their argument
is if you put a 100% concentration of any one of the greenhouse
gasses (these gasses come mainly from the burning of fossil
fuels) into a clear tube, and shine light through it, it
blocks the Ultra Violet spectrum, which is the heat spectrum.
Therefore, they claim, that must be what is blocking the
heat from escaping the atmosphere, causing global warming.
They make some adjustments to the formula, to take into
account the fact that the concentrations in the atmosphere,
have only increased between .3% and 3%. Then they feed the
data into their super computers, and try to predict what
is going to happen next.
Climatologists will tell you that the weather cycles through,
thousand year, ten thousand year, and other, as yet, unexplained
cycles. And that carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere,
have fluctuated to a much greater degree in the past, than
even today. Most likely due to such causes as massive plant
or animal die offs, and large scale forest fires.
Geo-Pysicists will tell you that the Earths magnetic field,
goes through phases called epochs, and events. An Event
is described as a period of about 10,000-30,000 years, when
the Earths Magnetic field goes from full strength, diminishes
to zero, reverses 180 degrees, and then increases back to
full strength. They seem to be very regular in their length
of duration. They have been charted approx. 4-5 million
years in the past, using core samples from the ocean floor.
(while sediment falls to the bottom of the ocean, it is
temporarily suspended in water, and aligns itself with the
magnetic field, much like a compass) .An epoch on the other
hand, is a period of no change in the full strength of
Earths Magnetic field. Its length of duration varies from
approx. 60,000 years to 160,000 years. The only constant
seems to be the variation in the length of time an epoch
lasts. This science is called Geo-Magnetism or Geo-Physical
Magnetism, depending on where you do your research.
Anthropologists will tell you that we have been standing
upright for at least 6-7 million years, and that there is
a missing link, or skeleton, that proves this. The evolutionary
theory is presented, as though the transition from past,
to present, was a long, and smooth one, when much evidence
indicates it may in fact be long periods of relatively little
change, interspersed with relatively short periods, of rapid
change. The so called missing link is held up as a holy
grail, to explain many of the anomalies associated with
the Human anatomy, such as, our lack of body hair, our bi-pedal
locomotion (standing upright) our vocalizing language, our
ability to have sex face to face, our ability to give birth
underwater, etc. etc. I don`t believe for a moment that
all of the irregularities can be explained by one, as yet
undiscovered, fossilized set of remains, of one of our ancestors.
I feel the missing link is, in fact a force, which we have
yet to study. The force of ice build up at the polar caps,
when combined with centrifical force, created by the rotation
of Our planet, upon the crust of the Earth.
The four seasons are caused by the tilt of our axis. If
there were no tilt there would be a constant cold, dark,
winter at the poles, and continuous summer at the equator.
All the precipitation that fell on the poles would freeze
and build up, and freeze and build up. After an average
of 60,000-160,000 years the weight of the polar caps,
combined with the centrifugal force caused by the rotation
of the planet would cause the Earths crust to slip at the
lithosphere, throwing the crust out of balance. This, I
believe is the beginning of a Geo-physical Event.
As the crust slips and the weight of the caps start to wobble
(much the same way as an out of balance top does) the polar
caps would start to come out into the sun and eventually
melt. (Probably around 45 degrees, as this is where most
glacier evidence ceases) Since the crust only comprises
some 1-5% of the entire mass of the planet, the shift would
not have a significant effect on the rest of the planet.
The Core, and the Mantle would continue to spin in the same
direction, and at the same speed as always. As the caps
melted and the force of their weight was eliminated, momentum
would allow the crust to continue its movement.
As the
caps continued past the equator, the crust would have to
stop its rotation, and in fact, would have to reverse its
rotation, to eventually catch back up to the core and mantle,
that continued to turn as always. As the rotation of the
crust reached a standstill, the portion of the surface that
faced the sun would become a dry, scorched, desert, while
the opposite side of the planet would become a frozen wasteland,
with only a thin strip between them that would continue
to support advanced life forms, both under water and on
land. And the poles would settle into place, approx.
180 degrees from where they started. To effectively demonstrate,
take a regular globe and spin it in the direction of rotation
indicated on the globe. Invert the globe, stop the rotation,
and observe the direction of rotation arrow now pointing
from West to East. However the inside would have to be visualized
as still be spinning the same way as always.
I believe that this action has in fact been taking place
for at least 2000-3000 years possibly longer, and that the
first time that a Norwegian expedition found the Magnetic
North Pole in 1558, it was well under way. Hence the constant,
known, measurable, variation in the position of Magnetic
north. It has moved one complete, exact circle since that
expedition. The theory taught in schools, is that the core
of the Earth, which is comprised of super compressed nickel,
and other heavy metals, moves about freely inside the planet,
causing magnetic north to move. What force would cause it
to do this? As centrifugal force, and gravity, would dictate
that the heavy core would remain centered. And would that
also not suppose, that the magnetic poles would be offset,
instead of exactly opposite one another?
A book by Elaine Morgan, entitled The Aquatic Ape, explains
much about our anatomy, with respect to the effect fluctuating
water levels, may have had on our ancestors, and how the
anomalies associated with our anatomy, when compared to
water mammals, are not uncommon at all. Some highlights
of the Aquatic theory, go something like this. As the ocean
levels rose 250-350 feet. And flooded primitive man`s distant
ancestors, off the open savannah, and into the tops of distant
peaks, which would by then be only a series of islands in
a great sea. Under the pressures of increased population
density, the islands soon become devoid of food and shelter.
Very quickly our hunger would drive us, or at least the
most adaptable of us, to overcome our natural fear of water,
and to try and catch the shore creatures, we would have
seen moving in the shallows. eg. sea urchins, crustaceans,
etc. Which would have had the effect of highly developing
our hands, as shore hunting animals such as raccoons, otters,
and others have developed. Soon we would have
to move to deeper water as the easily accessible food was
eaten up. This would be facilitated by picking up a sharp
stick, and standing upright (bi-pedal) in the water, to
spear some dinner.
Also most
wallowing, or water mammals, over the size of a sea otter,
have lost their body hair, in favor of subcutaneous fat,
for streamlining. Most water mammals have a highly developed
vocalizing language. Most water mammals have tear ducts.
Most water mammals can swim at birth. Etc. etc. If in fact
we were forced back into the water by virtue of rising water
levels, then perhaps the places we generally look for anthropological
evidence, i.e.. Fire pits, settlements, burial sites, garbage
heaps, etc. would be non-existent in a watery world, and
therefore may not be conducive to locating a “missing link.”
Besides, doesn't every great book, or story, have some sort
of reference to a great flood?
In Nov.-Dec. 2000 NASA launched a shuttle, that in turn
launched a satellite, to track the Earths crust movement.
This was done with very little fanfare or information.
In 2001 a gathering of top Scientists researching Global
warming, came to the conclusion that the only thing they
could agree on, was that it was happening faster than any
of their computer models were predicting.
In 2001 I attended a national workshop on invasive species,
where many of the attendees I spoke with confirmed my suspicions
that the spread of non-native, invasive species in Canada,
could be explained by a warming climate. That was caused
by Man, they insisted. I had to remind them that that was
still, just a theory.
In Jan. 2002, a news story about research, conducted in
fresh water lakes on the continent of Antarctica, seem to
indicate that that is the most rapidly warming area of the
planet. If global warming, is caused by greenhouse gasses,
would it not make sense that the heat retention capability
of these gasses, would be greatest in the areas where they
are in the highest concentrations? And is the southern polar
atmospheric zone, not separated from the southern temperate
zone by the jet stream, much the same way our northern hemisphere
weather system works?
When I first heard the Earth crust shift theory, I wondered
why my GPS still gave an accurate reading of my position,
until I found out that the satellites are electronically
tethered to a ground based transmitter, and retro rockets
automatically keep them on track.
The story of Atlantis, and Plato`s map, can be explained
by Earth crust shift as well, and the current theory de
jour, of intelligence coming from space aliens, as indicated
by pyramids being erected simultaneously in Africa and South
America. Which could more likely have been Atlantians forced
to leave their civilization (Antarctica) behind due to Earth
Crust shift. (See Charles Hapgood`s Earth crust shift Theories).
Global Warming, the Glacier Theory, the Missing Link, Magnetic
North (core moves inside planet?) The Sphinx controversy,
(was the head carved out much later) The vast majority of
the 63 pyramid sites around the planet, that do not line
up with the stars and planets, Our dependence on weeds for
many of our herbal remedies, seems to indicate a deficiency
in our diet, as well as shark cartilage, which under this
scenario may have been one of our primary predators, as
well as one of our primary sources of food. An ancient Hopi
Indian story about a group of Natives, that came up their
valley, cannibalized their people, and threw the earth out
of balance, etc. could all be explained with the Earth Crust
shift theory.
As well other mammals have made the transition from land,
to water, and back to land, and are well documented.
I also believe that there is a large vested interest, in
the research, and scientific community, to maintain the
current path of research, in the interests of maintaining
funding of current projects, and to avoid the uncertainty
of funding requests that may, or may not be approved. As
well, who among us likes to admit we are wrong? This may
be an indication of the well documented, resistance
that Christopher Columbus was up against, when he proclaimed
the world was not flat. In fact as more evidence comes out
to the contrary, the more hysterical the rhetoric, and the
headlines become.
For example,
last summer, the headline “Newly discovered NASA photos,
prove greenhouse gas theory” screamed out, however, after
reading the article, I determined that the photos proved
the Earth was warming, but failed to explain how this confirmed
it was greenhouse gasses, that were the cause. I only need
to stand outside on a clear, cold, February night, when
every joule of energy, that has been deposited onto the
surface of our planet by the Sun, is sucked out, and replaced
with the frigid cold, of deep, dark, space.
I would like to finish with a couple of observations: First
of all, I would like to say that this is separate, and distinct,
from tectonic plate movement, although they may very well
affect each other, I feel they are separate actions, and
there may very well be more forces at work here, than we
yet realize. Secondly I want to state that this in no way
means I feel that we should abandon our efforts to reduce
any, or all emissions that we produce, on the contrary,
anything we do to our environment, we do to ourselves. I
would also like to point out that our identification of
aerosol and other CFC`s as destructive to the ozone layer,
is an excellent example of positive action leading to positive
re-action. (reduction of CFC`s reduced the hole in the ozone
layer) As well there are many other valid reasons to reduce
All waste, all smog, and reduce harm to the environment.
I feel we have to work to change the things that we can
change, and prepare for the things we can`t.
Finally I would like to state that almost none of these
are my ideas. I merely put them together in a fairly comprehensive
package. Also this phenomenon has happened many times over
the course of our evolution. If it happens every 60,000-160,000
years, and we`ve been here tens of millions of years, and
in this upright form for millions of years, it will not
be so much of a threat to us, as it will be a threat to
our civilizations. Those species that are strong, and adaptable,
will survive. Those of us who depend on our civilization,
unless we start preparing for this soon, may not.
