Britain's
big freeze is continuing as weather experts warned the cold snap
is here to stay until New Year's Day
Tonight, England
and Wales will have another very cold and clear night. It will
be mainly dry with just the risk of an isolated wintry shower
in the north west during the first part of the night.
South west
Scotland will have snow showers, with more prolonged snowfall
in the north west. Eastern Scotland will remain mainly dry.
Outlook for
Monday and Tuesday: Monday will be windy and dull with showers
that will merge to longer spells of rain at times, but it will
feel milder than recently. Tuesday will be blustery with plenty
of cloud. There will be showers, some heavy, especially in the
west.
Tomorrow,
Northern Ireland will be very windy with rain - falling as snow
at first - spreading eastwards across the country.
After a cold
and frosty start for the rest of the UK, the wet and windy weather
will spread into Wales, western England and western Scotland,
falling as sleet or snow before being replaced by rain. During
the afternoon the rain will continue to push eastwards reaching
most parts by evening. The winds will be very strong with gales
in exposed areas.
