Floods Sweep Away Six People In Morocco

TETOUAN, Morocco (Reuters) - Floods swept away at least six people and damaged houses in Morocco"s northern area of Tetouan, eyewitnesses said on Tuesday. A Reuters journalist who visited the area saw dozens of old men, women and children who had been waiting since dawn for government help to evacuate the area. "At least six people were swept away," said one medical source. "The floods reached a height of two meters on Tuesday." Officials were not immediately available for comment. Heavy rain has been falling in northern Morocco since Friday, dumping up to 75 millimeters of rain a day on Tangiers and Tetouan provinces, according to the national meteorological station.
