NASA Announces a Near Earth Asteroid...

NEAR-EARTH ASTEROIDS: A large near-Earth asteroid, 4183 Cuno, will pass our planet on Dec. 22nd.

There's no danger of a collision -- at closest approach the space rock will be 56 times farther away than the Moon. But Cuno will be relatively bright.

Amateur astronomers with large telescopes (or small telescopes equipped with CCD cameras) can easily spot the 5km-wide asteroid as a 13th magnitude object racing through the constellation Leo next week.
