Big Earthquake Hits Azerbaijani Capital

BAKU (Agence France Presse) An earthquake rocked Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, Wednesday, causing residents to race out into the streets in panic, the country's state television reported.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The television said the temblor measured 4.5 on the Richter scale.

The French seismic institute in Strasbourg, France registered it at 6.8 on the Richter scale.

It was the second quake to hit the city since November 26, when a quake measuring 6.5 radiated out from the Caspian Sea and caused 31 deaths and injured more than 300 people.
