Hurricane Weather Just Heating Up

For the first time in six year's the United States was spared a hurricane during the annual season, which ended November 30th. But a total of eight hurricanes and six tropical storms pummeled other areas this past season. Even though it may seem like storms are getting worse - this year's season continued a three-year trend of above average activity - new research suggests that the worst is yet to come. Analysis of sediment core samples dating back thousands of years suggests the hurricane activity runs in cycles and we're at the end of 1,000 years of quiet. If the researchers' model is correct, we should start seeing more storms each year... at least for the next few centuries.
