Astroalert News

An Earth-directed coronal mass ejection observed on 26 April is expected to impact the Earth and produce periods of minor auroral storm conditions over high and dark-sky middle latitude regions. A middle latitude auroral activity watch has been issued for the 28-29 April UTC days. Impact of the disturbance could occur anytime after approximately 12:00 to 15:00 UTC on 28 April (8 am to 11 am EDT). Observers should monitor conditions carefully for possible signs of activity on these dates.

A trial version of the STD Aurora Monitor is available for free download from: http://www.spacew.com/aurora and will assist people interested in watching conditions in near real-time.

Please report any sightings of auroral activity to the global auroral activity observation network at: http://www.spacew.com/www/subaurora.html
Current sighting reports made by others in real-time can be found at: http://www.spacew.com/www/auroras.html. Lively real-time discussions of activity are also available at: http://www.spacew.com/irc as well as on a
